Being a great researcher means more than just executing research and making discoveries; it’s about effectively managing all of the collaboration tools and channels you use to work across your company.
dscout was built from the start to be a powerful tool for researchers. But until now, it hasn’t been as easy as we’d like to collaborate with teammates in your research projects. So, we fixed this!
Now, a whole set of collaboration upgrades are live in dscout, giving you more ways to work amongst, share with, and manage your teams. The realities of your everyday qual researcher or research leader life just got easier to manage with:
- A new account home page
- A revamped project page
- For Live users, an observer mode for video interviews
- A revamped subscription management dashboard

Welcome to your new account home
In dscout, you and your team now have a shiny new place to call home.
At a glance, you can see all your dscout projects, who you're collaborating with and which dscout tools are being used, as well as who the key contacts on your account are, internally and at dscout.
Need to grant someone else access to a project? Just click the add collaborators button and add people from your account or new users.
On the left, use the “Create Project” button to begin an untitled project and enter the project dashboard—where you can create screeners with dscout Recruit, as well as missions for dscout Diary and Live. (More on the project screen below.)
If you’re a power user with dozens of projects, you now can search to find the projects, missions, or screeners you’re looking for. Users can further segment from all projects to see just projects they have created, shared projects, and completed projects.
Completed projects offer a new way to ensure your active research is featured and your ecosystem is kept clean. You can mark a finished project complete by clicking the icon on the top right of the project card.

Projects get a home too
Effective research doesn’t just require good participants. You also need good collaborators.
We’ve rebuilt the project interface to make it clear what’s happening inside a project, who is involved, and where you can go for answers.
The new project description is a place to orient new users and collaborators with text that is not shared with scouts. Use this to explain the purpose of the project and provide any details that will be helpful to your internal team.
On the project collaborators modal, you can add current and dscout users to the project. Power users should leverage the ability to control who is notified about each project, avoiding notification overload.
Additionally, from the collaborators modal you can designate a project lead. Team members can see the project lead and their contact details on the right sidebar of a project.
You also can directly send an invite link to any desired collaborators by clicking the copy button and sharing the link with them.
Of course, you can launch a screener or mission from within your project home, too. Get started with your research and get your team members on board!

Invite teammates to observe dscout Live conversations in real-time
When we launched dscout Live in June, we were energized by the response—so many researchers and scouts already are having great conversations 1-on-1. But our most popular request was the ability to add colleagues to Live video interviews.
Now Live users can easily add real-time observers to calls, engaging your team in research as it happens.
All you need to do is assign a moderator before the session begins; then, anyone added to your dscout project can join seamlessly as an observer through the same session link used by you and the scout.
The moderator is the only member who will be able to interact directly with the scout. Observers are entirely invisible to the scout but can create clips and notes, as well as chat with researchers in a separate messaging channel.
Collaborate better, together, to get the context your team needs from every conversation.

All the details in one place for account owners
Calling all account owners—this last improvement is for you!
dscout subscriptions help your team fire on all cylinders, with pools of scout “completes,” support hours and seats for as many collaborators as you need.
Now, a new dashboard in your account enables administrators to keep track of important account information and manage settings in one place.
Navigate to the projects tab for a filterable view of project details like status, owner and number of scout completes, or visit Users to see team members and update permission levels if you’re an admin.
The Billing tab lets admins check and update on-file credit card information, while the Settings tab equips them to control account-wide security, sign-on and notification preferences.
This is just the first taste of many more features in the works to make it easier for you to collaborate on amazing research projects via dscout. We’re on a mission to deliver more of our top requests from users before the end of 2018, so stay tuned.
